open season game for nintendo DS???

hiya its my sons birthday today and we got him a nintento DS and open season game...but.....we cant get past the first bit!!!! we have done the helicopter landing on the X but then when the actual game starts we dont no what to do....the charcters are in the little patch of forest there is a wooden gate at 1 end and a couple of rocks at the other and we are stuck, just keep walking round in circles......SOMEONE HELP PLEASE...any advice or a link straight to a walkthrough would be very much appreciated...i have been looking for a walkthrough for ages but cant find one!!!!
