HELP! Is it true that the psp slim will break the first time you drop it?

I am thinking of selling my BLUE DS LITE, NOT AT GAMESTOP (EBAY), and I know I will get enough to buy a used psp slim because I have a car charger, home charger, animal crossing, and action replay. So, I told my mom I wanted a psp slim because I love movies and the psp, in my opinion, seems like a better system. It has better games. Anyways, my friend was like "DON'T GET IT! THE FIRST TIME YOU DROP IT, IT BREAKS FOREVER!". I didn't know but I had to check. If it does break really easily, how can I protect it?
P.S. If, by chance, it dropped it would be falling from a couch to a carpet floor.**
Should I get the fat? For durability reasons anyways?

2. if you are that worried ask you mom to buy you a case because you don't want to break it, moms go for that stuff all the time...
3. if all else fails... don't drop it!
